Great live show last nite. I was afraid for a bit that their music wouldn't translate well onto stage. A lot of bands who're great recorded fall short live. This show was incredible, it sounded Perfect. Literally the best sounding unknown band I've ever heard. Energy was through the roof, and the songs melted faces. Literally looked like a wax museum after a heat wave after they finished their set, peoples faces just dripping into puddles.

Original post blogged on b2evolution.

isnt it interesting how some people can really convey themselves in such an honest way.
They can be completely direct, without trying to shape your impressions and judgements into a perception. But give you the straight look, unabashed, leave you with an honest view.

The Modern Cafe

While in recent months this blog has taken a severe turn in the direction of motorcycles.. I'll at least try to make the bike posts poignant or in someway a step forward from the norm.

Now these days you don't see much of standard carb's and airboxes on motorcycles. And hardly ever do you get to see a modern single cylinder thumper riding around. But let's not over look the Suzuki Boulevard S40. Now I've been familiar with the Boulevard line for some time, yet somehow I over looked this little gem. It is a 650cc, single cylinder bike thats belt driven and pulls around 60mpg. What a great little bike. Whats better yet is they can be had for around $2,500, even as low as $1500 depending!

Now the styling is a little played out, this pseudo bobber-chopper-cruiser mess that's filling up your local dealership is a sad sight indeed. Pre-customized bikes are what makes us as a group pitiable. We should weep, that the majority goes for this prefabricated 'coolness', yuck. Yet no one will man up and sell us a simple Standard style bike. They are the rarest breed in our hyper marketing based SALES SALES SALES country. Europe and Japan, these bikes are available in spades, yet 'we' as a collective wouldn't buy them as much or as quickly as we would the mere facade of cool or 'sex inducing'.

Luckily we have guys out there like Casey Stevenson of Ryca Motors who's using his head in a big way. He took this simple Suzuki platform and saw much more in it.

He's taken the bike, stripped it down, and with a few mods he's turned bland to grand in the true spirit of the 50's Cafe Racers. He's applied the tight purse strings of taking a dreadful cheap bike, and using his hands and spirit to rejuvenate it into a stellar piece of work. And I'm sure there's much to explore in this direction as well. Not just the usual cafe touches, but performance mod wise, as well as different routes of cafe-ing.

For one I'd love to see this bike with more angle to the clip ons, a further back set of rear sets, a nice long cafe tank, and some good engine tweaks..

That would really be the Cats Sha-Zow.

Lets keep the spirit of creativity and ingenuity alive. Create your own something Today!

So I'm looking to make some trades.
What I have: Late 1940's Hammond M2 Organ. Tube powered gem, it does need a new set of tubes to be right. But has all keys and is working. This is similar to the M3 which was used to record Booker T & The MG's "Green Onions". It has the draw tabs with vibrato based on the same platform as the famed Hammond B3 of Ray Manzarek of "The Doors" fame.

Now what am I looking to trade for it, Nice vintage instrument. Violin, Viola, Acoustic Guitar or Guitar Amp head. You tell me. If a guy is out trading paper clips for houses, I think I can get something decent for this fire breathing beast!

Anyone got a two wheeler, something in the 400cc solar system? KZ 400? or a two stroked oil farter? :)
lets see!

Original post blogged on b2evolution.
